Our Chalkboard Tree

Chalkboard Christmas Tree

As I mentioned before, we have no room for a Christmas tree this year.  So, this is the space saving version I came up with, and I'm pretty happy with the result.  It was ridiculously simple to make, here's how:

MATERIALS
  • Piece of plywood cut to your desired size, mine is 24" by 34"
  • Chalkboard paint
  • Blue painters tape
  • A paintbrush
  • Chalk
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Drawn a line from the middle of the top edge of the plywood to the bottom right corner, and to the bottom left corner.  Tape off the two lines with painters tape.  Paint the triangle and let dry for 1 hour.  Paint one more coat and let it dry for another hour, then peel off the painters tape.  Let the tree cure for 24 hours.  Prime the chalkboard with a coat of chalk and erase, then you are ready to decorate your tree!
